Our prompt for August is GF products! Tell us all about your favorites, or tell us about something you tried recently that turned out not to be a favorite. It's all good. (Unless it isn't.)

To fill this prompt, you can:

  1. Slide into the comments of this post and share a link to a product and why you like it (or don't!).
  2. Post a product review to the comm.
  3. Write up a recipe that uses a favorite GF product and post it to the comm.
  4. Try someone's recipe and reply to their post (or comment) with any changes you made and how it turned out.
We're a geographically diverse group, so not everything will be available in all markets, but don't let that stop you from sharing. I'm always interested in what it's like to be gluten free—and what kind of products are available—in other parts of the world.

Now for the small print only it's in regular print for accessibility reasons: Monthly prompts are only for inspiration and not a requirement. You can post anything you like to the comm whenever you like as long as it meets the community guidelines.

Here's what's going on in the comments:

oh man these are my favourite things (though they're called 'biscuit breaks' here). I have been eating 1 packet of the chocolate chip ones for breakfast since I came to the UK basically (alongside a serving of yoghurt, or crumbled on top of yoghurt). the stem gingers are good too. there's a salted caramel variety as well but I haven't seen that one in the wild in the grocery stores I go to but I might make a trip to Waitrose on Thursday and their much larger GF section and see if they have it.

another fave Nairn's product I absolutely love are the flatbreads, which actually look and taste a lot like proper Scandinavian knækbrød! the rosemary and sea salt is my go-to if I'm not baking my own.

I haven't had cause to make no-bake cheesecake since I got here, but I've wondered if the plain oat biscuit breaks would be a good alternative to digestive biscuits...one way to find out...eventually...

yes! the sourdough ones are nice too, a bit thicker (there are 3 individual flatbreads in a plastic package, and 2 packages inside the box, whereas there are 4 of the rosemary&salt ones, so 8 in total), and very flavourful. I've found they keep well once opened so long as you seal them - I usually have two and the other two at a later date.

👀 I've never had smores, but that looks delicious.

I once wanted to make a master post of all the gluten free frozen pizzas ever, with ratings and all, but I seem to have lost the draft I started (when? pre-pandemic? I do not remember) and I don't think I want to start a new one. anyway. my current go to is Ristorante Gluten Free/Lactose Free Mozzarella Pizza. it actually feels like it has enough cheese (other brands I often feel like I have to add more cheese myself), the tomatoes taste fresh, the pesto is tasty and balanced just right and overall this has never failed me. the base is OK. gf frozen pizza bases are rarely what I'd call Good but this one doesn't turn rock hard immediately, so that's another point in its favour.

Arnott's brought out gf Scotch Finger Biscuits a few years ago, and while they aren't quite right, they are such a wonderful bit of my childhood to have back. I do, however, usually buy the knock-off brand, because I can't pick the difference.

No direct link, because cannot find one that works, but they are somewhere down the Arnott's gluten free range.

I've tried several of their breads and liked them. But I'm loving their Everything Bagels which arrive frozen from Wal-mart. I can store them in the freezer, thaw one for toasting and eating. They could have a bit more of the 'everything seasoning' but they are tasty and chewy and just plain good.

So, recommended if you run across them.
