runpunkrun: silverware laid out on a cloth napkin (gather yon utensils)
[personal profile] runpunkrun posting in [community profile] gluten_free

When I first went gluten-free I read a lot of cookbooks, and I quickly developed an eye for what I did—and didn't—want from them.

I was looking for:

  • a picture for (nearly) every recipe
  • measurements in volume and weight
  • storage advice
  • a thorough index

I was not interested in:

  • preachifying
  • complicated (or multiple!) custom flour blends

Over a period of a year, I checked out around a hundred cookbooks from my library...and bought four. Still, I'm grateful that, when I had to join the club, I had so many books to choose from.

Do you have a favorite gluten-free cookbook? Come talk about it in the comments, share your cookbook requirements, or write up a review of a favorite cookbook and post it to the comm.

It is amazing how many of them include the preachifying and complicated flour blends..isn't it?

I liked Nom Nom Paelo...lots of pictures, great recipes and good index.
