I haven't tried it, but I suspect it might require some fiddling with the sugar/oil ratio. If you do experiment with granulated sugar, just know you're looking for a dough that sticks together easily and isn't all annoying and crumbly. Might take less sugar or more oil.

Or, if you have a spice grinder or strong blender, you can make your own powdered sugar! Just pulverize some granulated sugar and add a bit of your favorite starch to it--as confectioner's sugar usually has corn starch in it--and voila you don't have to leave the house AND you've got powdered sugar!
