Product Review: So Delicious Dairy Free S'mores Oatmilk Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert
So Delicious S'mores Oatmilk Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert: Mmm, non-dairy frozen dessert, but for reals, this stuff tastes like the real thing as far as I can remember. I actually felt a little suspicious while I was eating it, like, are you surrrre there's no dairy in here? But there isn't! No soy either, and the only nut ingredient is the coconut, which isn't technically a tree nut. The carton does warn it may contain tree nuts and its derivatives as this product is manufactured in a facility that also processes tree nuts, wheat, peanuts, and soy, but this tub is certified gluten free and So Delicious claims to have a "rigorous allergen testing program and apply strict quality control measures in an effort to prevent contamination by undeclared food allergens."
Anyway, this is delicious, true to its name. The ice cream is creamy and smooth, not gritty or icy at all, and tastes exactly like a graham cracker. The chocolate is in lovely little bittersweet drops and isn't waxy or greasy. The marshmallow is represented by swirls of vanilla CocoWhip topping and the texture is pleasing, silky and fluffy, though the swirls aren't really big enough to make them stand out from the ice cream, but that's probably for the best as they're quite sweet.
All in all a really successful dairy-free ice cream with no detectable coconut flavor. I'm excited to try their other products.

I'm already planning on expanding my sample size with their Wondermilk Cookies & Crème ice cream. What's a wondermilk? Only science can tell us.

Wondermilk seems to be a marketing name for water bulked up with oil and pea protein?!?
For dairy-free eaters, these folks go all out: almond, cashew, coconut, oat, and soy.

Yeah, they've got a wide variety of products! Close comparison of the ingredients in the coconutmilk and Wondermilk products suggests that the Wondermilk products use coconut oil rather than coconut milk/cream, and if it's refined oil it might not even have any coconut taste. We'll see!
Also just a heads up that some of their products do have gluten in them, but it's mostly the bars and cones. I think all of the ice creams are GF, but only some of the bars.

Heh, I responded to this before you edited it. Water and coconut oil may sound like an extremely sketchy substitute for milk, but cow's milk is about 90% water.

Yeah, "full fat milk" is just 3.5% butter -- I'm failing at being a good Wisconsite.

It's a factoid I often comfort myself with whenever I have to replace milk with, say, almond milk (ingredients: filtered water, almonds), or apple juice, or even water in a recipe. Milk is mostly water! I remind myself as I pour something that's most water into my pancake batter.
Also, this Cookies & Creme "Wondermilk" ice cream has an unpleasantly...spongy??? texture?? And a strong taste of coconut, so this one's not a winner for me.

They have so many flavors to try!! I think the ice creams are all gluten free, but some of the bars and cones do have wheat in them.

That's a dealbreaker for me, too. Some of their products do have soy in them, but their website has a handy little allergen menu for each product so you can tell at a glance what's in what.

Thoughts on Wondermilk Vanilla
Sadly, this was barely 5/10.

Then again, after the first two spoonsful I drowned it in rhubarb sauce to cut the sweetness back to edible which may have drowned any remaining vanilla.

Interesting that the mouthfeel varies so much between flavors. The Cookies & Creme was not pleasant in the mouth at all. Once I'm done with it, I'll think I'll focus my attentions on their oatmilk, almondmilk, and cashewmilk lines.

As far as mouthfeel goes, I can't imagine any cookie mixed in to an ice cream -- they're like peppermint stick and mayonnaise (two great tastes that belong on opposite sides of the moon).

Fair. Though I don't think the cookies can be blamed for the chewy texture. That's just wrong.
